The Flicker Day Program focuses primarily on recreation, leisure and wellness, rather than on vocational or career services. The program provides a very rich array of site-based and community based activities. The facility offers a large multi-purpose room suitable for projecting movies, playing bingo, holding dances or parties or many other activities. There is a sunny “Tea Room” that is used for afternoon tea, quiet reading, or manicures. A computer/reading room offers a quiet space for learning computer skills, playing board games, or reading. A television lounge has plenty of seating, a large screen television for watching movies, doing armchair aerobics or enjoying karaoke. The craft room is a large bright room perfect for crafts, food preparation or other “messy” activities. Also on-site are an indoor therapeutic pool, which is accessible, a fitness room with several pieces of gym equipment, and an Olympic-class Bocce court.
Some of the community activities offered regularly include delivering Meals-on-Wheels, dropping off donations to Goodwill, going to the movies, leisurely trips to the local coffee house, concerts at the Kimmel Center, trips to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, bowling, and attending professional sports events.
