Supports for Challenging Behaviors

Bancroft specializes in helping children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and acquired brain injuries overcome severe behavioral challenges in the least restrictive setting.

Children who experience problems with self-injury, aggression, property destruction, feeding problems, or pica are often inappropriately placed in hospital or institutional settings where they may be unnecessarily restrained and/or medicated. This frequently compounds the behavioral crisis, as many individuals respond poorly to institutional environments. Often, these placements do not address the underlying causes of the problem.

Well recognized for its successes with individuals with severe behavior disorders, Bancroft's Lindens program is considered by many professionals as a premier resource for complex cases.

Bancroft offers both residential and in-home treatment of behavioral disorders. Click below to learn more about the Lindens.

  1. The Lindens Neurobehavioral Stabilization Program

To maximize learning in the home or other natural environment and promote generalization of skills, Bancroft can provide staff to work one on one with children and adults, as well as provide family training to their parents/caretakers. The goal of family training will be to enhance the parents'/caretakers' abilities to successfully and positively interact with their family member for implementing structure and limit setting, positive reinforcement, social interactions, community socialization, among others.
