Message from Bancroft's President
Dear Friends:
I am writing to share with you how pleased I am to have assumed leadership of this great organization as the newly
appointed president. I’ve been at Bancroft for about two years, and have met many of our Bancroft family and
friends during that time. I have a lot of hopes and dreams for the organization, and I look forward to working with everyone to make things the best they can be for all the children and adults we serve every day.
Our mission is to provide effective, compassionate and individualized programs to help those we serve achieve their maximum self-sufficiency and fulfillment in their lives. Because of the programs we offer, the lives of many children and adults have improved. For example, 60% of the students in our Preschool are able to attend their own community schools upon graduation. Thirty-five percent of our elementary students go back to their school districts for secondary education. And, our Vocational Education programs prepare secondary students for adult life, with 65% of our graduating students maintaining paid employment. I am very proud of the work being done throughout the organization.
We are fully committed to providing the highest quality programs possible for those we serve in all our programs. In support of this, we have established four areas of strategic focus going forward: quality programs, quality staff, satisfied “customers,” and financial stability. These key areas of focus are helping to guide our priorities in terms of performance improvement initiatives, budgeting, and other operational decision-making.
Our overall goals for this fiscal year are to:
--Improve program quality and operating efficiencies through performance improvement initiatives,
partnerships and other strategies;
--Move forward with strategic planning, focusing on where we will be five years from now and beyond;
--Increase fund-raising support; and
--Advocate for state funding increases.
Our strategic planning process is concentrating on preparing for the future in terms of our clinical treatment models and facilities. We hope to build a new school for our students, which is important in order to provide state-of-the-art equipment and other environmental and accessibility accommodations to increase their ability to learn and grow.
We do have challenges, as all human service organizations do, but we have many, many wonderful things happening every day, as well as some exciting opportunities. If you would like to support our goals on behalf of those we serve, please let us know.
We appreciate your interest and support.
Sincerely,
Toni Pergolin
President
