Bancroft NeuroHealth Chief Medical Officer appointed to Governor’s Council for Medical Research and Treatment of Autism
Caroline Eggerding, MD, Vice President of Clinical Services and Chief Medical Officer of Bancroft NeuroHealth, was recently appointed to the Governor’s Council for Medical Research and Treatment of Autism.
The Council awards grants and contracts to public and nonprofit private organizations to forward a better understanding of the origins and treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) and to improve the lives of individuals with autism and their families in New Jersey.
A Developmental Pediatrician, Dr. Eggerding, a Haddonfield resident, has overseen healthcare services and supports for the Bancroft organization as Chief Medical Officer since February 2005. A strong advocate on behalf of children with disabilities, Dr. Eggerding has served as a member of the State Special Education Advisory Council, the American Academy of Pediatrics New Jersey Chapter Council on Children with Disabilities and the New Jersey State Task Force on the Education of Students With Autism.
Having received her medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Dr. Eggerding performed her residency at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and received additional post-graduate training at The Hospital for Sick Children in London. She is a staff physician at Voorhees Pediatric Facility in Voorhees, N.J., and at Weisman Children's Rehabilitation Hospital in Marlton, N.J. Board certified in pediatrics, she is also a diplomate in neurodevelopmental disabilities.
Founded in 1883, Bancroft NeuroHealth annually serves more than 1,300 children and adults with developmental disabilities, brain injuries and other neurological impairments. Based in Haddonfield, NJ, Bancroft has sites in Camden, Burlington, Gloucester, Ocean, Salem and Middlesex counties in New Jersey, and in Delaware. Programs include education, rehabilitation, vocational, residential, evaluation and treatment services.
