Bancroft Brain Injury Services

Bancroft Brain Injury Services helps people rebuild their lives—step by step—after a brain injury. Whether the trauma is a result of an accident, stroke, near-drowning or other incident, Bancroft focuses on the person's strengths to develop customized short-term and long-term programming to enable the person to regain as much functioning and activity as possible. Bancroft offers a continuum of community living, vocational and therapeutic services to meet the changing needs of persons with brain injuries, including those with behavioral challenges.

From highly independent programs to more supportive options for those who need greater levels of structure and support, Bancroft's treatment philosophy blends two complementary approaches—the neurobehavioral and person-centered models—both reflecting best practices in rehabilitation.

The neurobehavioral model has its roots in the fields of applied behavior analysis and neuropsychology. It is based on highly effective, proven methods of teaching skills and adaptive behavior, while recognizing the impact of cognitive strengths and weaknesses.

The person-centered model is based on the philosophy that each person benefits most when viewed in his or her entirety; that an individual's disability is just one aspect of who he or she is as a person; and that people are best served when they have a circle of support with input into their goals and programs.

Bancroft has an outstanding record of success in treating even the most difficult problems resulting from a brain injury. The focus is on developing functional skills that address individuals' needs where they live, work and play.
