3.4.09 | Brain Injury Awareness Month

March is National Brain Injury Awareness Month. Did you know that every 21 seconds, one person in the U.S. sustains a traumatic brain injury? And, of the 1.4 million people who sustain a brain injury each year in the U.S...

  1. 50,000 die
  2. 235,000 are hospitalized
  3. 1.1 million are treated and released from an emergency department

An estimated 5.3 Million Americans – a little more than 2% of the U.S. population – currently live with disabilities resulting from traumatic brain injury.*

This is a family issue. And, so during Brain Injury Awareness Month, we should all consider the steps we can take to protect our children’s heads.

12.1.09 | Butterfly Ball a big success!

We celebrated our new wings with about 300 friends and supporters recently at the 17th annual Butterfly Ball. What a wonderful event it was!

We were thrilled to have Greg Dobbs of the National League Champion Philadelphia Phillies as this year’s dinner chairman, who welcomed everyone with great sincerity and enthusiasm for Bancroft. We also presented Stewart Business Systems and its president, Joe O’Malley, with Bancroft’s Corporate and Community Leadership Award for the company’s extensive support of our mission. In addition, we honored Barbara and Jack Tarditi with the Margaret Bancroft Award for their commitment to Bancroft and those we serve.

The Butterfly Ball is Bancroft's largest annual fundraising event, and this year generated nearly $300,000 in support of Bancroft's programs and services. We are grateful to all of the individuals and corporations that generously supported the event.

And, so the Ball may be over but our quest to make it one world for everyone will continue. Click here to make an on-line donation to support our mission.
