9.13.11 | Officials check out Bancroft's services for veterans with brain injuries

Two Camden County, N.J., officials visited Bancroft Brain Injury Services today, to learn about our new contract with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, which funds these services for eligible veterans.

The guests -- Jack Conners, director of Camden County Veterans Affairs and a former state legislator, and Ed McDonnell, County Freeholder Deputy Director – toured our Day Treatment Services in Cherry Hill and a nearby group home.

The visit was a great opportunity to educate local leaders about how Bancroft can help veterans and others with brain injuries to rebuild their lives, through our continuum of residential and day services.

Both Conners and McDonnell were pleased to learn about Bancroft's services, and offered to spread the word among veterans they encounter and other contacts.

Bancroft's contract with the VA authorizes the organization to provide residential services for VA-enrolled veterans with traumatic brain injuries (TBI). The VA will fund these services at Bancroft sites in Cherry Hill, Mullica Hill, Brick and Plainsboro, N.J., and in surrounding areas.

Bancroft Brain Injury Services helps people regain daily living skills and other functional abilities. The VA funding covers veterans injured in combat or through an accident or illness even years later.

Bancroft offers a broad range of rehabilitation options based on each person's needs and abilities, including residential, day treatment, vocational, in-home and outpatient programs. Services include cognitive rehabilitation, physical, occupational and speech therapies, and psychological counseling.
