7.09 | New Jersey Provider Coalition Honors Bancroft Associates as 'Community Stars'

Haddonfield, NJ - July 2009 - The New Jersey Association of Community Providers (NJACP), a coalition of more than 100 organizations that serve as a key resource for more than 6000 state residents with developmental disabilities and acquired brain injuries, has honored two men associated with Bancroft NeuroHealth as 'Community Stars.'

During recent ceremonies in Princeton, Joseph Rivera of Plainsboro and Russell Fried of Laurel Springs were honored as "exceptional people who have achieved personal growth and enriched not only their own lives, but those of their families, friends and communities."

Each weekday, Rivera participates in the brain injury program at Bancroft where he also is learning computer skills. For the past nine years, he has worked at a supermarket in East Windsor, and also volunteers at the South Brunswick Court as a clerical assistant.

Fried serves on the New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities. At Bancroft, he is a member of several advisory committees and an officer of a self-advocacy panel. He is employed by the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey.

"The 'Star' designation is truly appropriate for Joe and Russell," said Toni Pergolin, president of Bancroft NeuroHealth. "Through their accomplishments, they continue to reach for the stars in terms of living fulfilling lives."

Founded in 1883, Bancroft NeuroHealth annually serves more than 1,300 children and adults with developmental disabilities, brain injuries and other neurological impairments. Based in Haddonfield, NJ, Bancroft has sites in Camden, Burlington, Gloucester, Ocean, Salem and Middlesex counties in New Jersey, and in Delaware. Programs include education, rehabilitation, vocational, residential, evaluation and treatment services.
