5.17.11 | Kennedy CEO named chairman of Bancroft Board of Trustees

Haddonfield, N.J.—May 17, 2011— Bancroft, a leading nonprofit organization, has named prominent healthcare executive Martin A. Bieber as chairman of its board of trustees.

The Monroe Township, N.J., resident is president and CEO of the Kennedy Health System, which operates three South Jersey hospitals, a skilled nursing facility, and numerous outpatient centers across Camden and Gloucester counties.

Based in Haddonfield, N.J., Bancroft provides a wide range of services to help people with neurological challenges reach their full potential for productive and fulfilling lives.

Bieber joined Bancroft's board in 2008, and has "consistently demonstrated a deep and sincere commitment to those we support and their families," said Bancroft President and CEO Toni Pergolin. "Marty brings an ideal combination of compassion and skills to this new role."

"Bancroft has been helping people reach their full potential for more than 125 years," notes Bieber. "I feel privileged to step into the role of board chairman at this time, to work with the superb leadership and staff to continue this critically important mission."

In this volunteer position, Bieber will oversee Bancroft's 14-member board, an all-volunteer group that governs the operation of Bancroft. His duties include setting the organization's vision and strategic plan, overseeing all board committees, and working to support Bancroft's management team in achieving the organization's goals.

Bieber has more than 30 years of experience as a healthcare executive and administrator. Prior to joining Kennedy in 2006, he was president and CEO of Mercy Medical Center on Long Island, chief operating officer of the system's flagship hospital, St. Francis Hospital, and held other leadership positions with Catholic Health Services of Long Island.

He is also a past board chair of the Developmental Disabilities Institute on Long Island (N.Y.), where he has served as a board member for many years. A certified public accountant, Bieber has a master's degree in health services administration and a bachelor's degree in business administration.
